Sustainability and ESG at IRGA
We Support ESG and SDG Goals
The relevance of the sustainability principles of ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) to the agricultural industry is massive. The industry is in a highly complex position, being one of the largest contributors to global Greenhouse Gas Emissions (approximately 10-12% of total emissions according to the FAO) while also holding the responsibility of securing food sources to a growing global population. At IRGA, we support 11 out of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). These include Goal 2: Zero Hunger, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and Goal 13: Climate Action.
At IRGA, we believe that sustainable business practices are the key to ensuring that we meet the challenges laid out under the UNSDGs and effectively resolve the dual challenges of climate change and long-term food security. We believe this can be done while also ensuring that organisations are able to create real value for stakeholders and maintain their financial obligations.

How We Create ESG Value for Clients
We actively incorporate the principles of ESG into the heart of every product and service that we provide to clients. Our agritech innovations are developed with efficiency, productivity and sustainability in mind to ensure that that they achieve the maximum desired output with minimal impact on the environment. Several of our mechanised Agritools, for instance, are battery powered and aimed at reducing the industry’s reliance on fossil fuels.
A key advisory service offering that we provide at IRGA is Plantation Transformation. As a part of that service, we facilitate the necessary knowledge transfer to equip clients with a keen understanding of the best practices and procedures that can reduce costs, maximise efficiency, and optimise resource utilisation, keeping their operations as sustainable and resilient as possible.

IRGA’s Commitment to ESG Standards
We endeavour to uphold the standards of ESG within our internal organisational operations. This is done by setting targets for each of the three areas of ESG and outlining strategies which keep us aligned with those targets throughout the business year.
An environmental initiative currently underway at IRGA is an emissions reductions study, in which we will be actively monitoring energy consumptions and daily resources usage, including fuel from commuting activities, to seek ways of reducing our daily carbon footprint. Among the strategies that we are considering include a carpooling scheme for office staff and introducing an organic composting system to reduce our waste output.
Under the social umbrella, we are looking into a community engagement scheme rooted in welfare for the F&B sector in our immediate office vicinity. We will also be introducing mental health and social inclusivity workshops and engagement sessions throughout the annual calendar.
