KUALA LUMPUR, 10th October 2023 – IRGA Sdn Bhd, an agritech solutions developer which provides technology driven services for clients in the agricultural sector, recently announced the appointment of Terence Selvarajah as Country Head for its operations in Indonesia.
As a corporate finance professional, Mr Selvarajah has worked closely with the Sinar Mas Group in Indonesia during his tenure with the consulting firm Arthur Andersen and gained extensive experience in corporate finance and strategic planning for the plantation sector in Indonesia.
The announcement comes in line with the company’s plans to carry out its product and services delivery rollout to clients within the Indonesian region. All IRGA’s products and services will henceforth be rolled out through its Indonesian partner firm PT Aman Agri Inovasi, which will provide marketing and technical support through its team in Indonesia.
IRGA has been developing a range of technology driven solutions aimed at resolving challenges within the farming and plantation sector. Its Advisory segment offers clients a specially curated service referred to as Plantation Transformation. The service provides consultative support to agribusiness clients with the delivery of a comprehensive strategy aimed at sustainably improving operational efficiencies and productivity across the full range of plantation operations and activities.
In addition to its Advisory service, the company is also developing a complete suite of software and hardware innovations to support plantation operations. It’s digital and mobile app, the iPLANT System, allows plantation managers to track and monitor a wide range of plantations activities, from the field level to the mill, and receive daily updated reports and insights that can be leveraged to improve operational efficiencies.
On the hardware side, the company has been working on technological innovations which integrate both digital technologies with mechanisation and robotics. This includes a lightweight, electrically powered and eco-friendly mechanised cutter as well as an electrical and motorised loose fruit evacuation device. IRGA will be leveraging on the extensive clientele of its plantation tools manufacturing partner Kingoya Enterprise to reach clients within the Indonesian region, as the latter has had a strong presence in Indonesia for over 15 years.
“With the latest technology and innovations at IRGA, I hope to bring new ideas and solutions to tackle challenges affecting sustainability, productivity, climate change and environmental issues that have contributed towards wrongly held perceptions surrounding palm oil in the west. We also aim to lead efforts within the field of carbon credits for the palm oil sector in Indonesia.” – Terence Selvarajah, Country Head (SVP) for Indonesia, IRGA Sdn Bhd
In deploying its solutions to clients in the agribusiness sector, IRGA aims to support the Indonesian economy in achieving its long-term agronomic goals. As part of Indonesia’s MP3EI Masterplan, the government aims to achieve food independence and national food sovereignty for the country as well as develop a sustainably integrated bioeconomy by 2025. Initiatives have thus been underway to support the twin goals of achieving greater sustainability and productivity within the agricultural sector through the infusion of digital and mechanised innovations.
“IRGA’s technology solutions will be a welcome support with respect to the Indonesian government’s goals for the agricultural sector relating to sustainability and long-term food security. By resolving ground level challenges using technology, the company can play a vital role in transitioning the industry towards greater levels of efficiency and productivity.” – Praba Madhavan, Senior Regional Advisor in Indonesia, IRGA Sdn Bhd.
IRGA will be exhibiting the iPLANT system along with several of its other products and service offerings at the upcoming Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) 2023 organised by Gabungan Pengusaha Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (GAPKI). The conference will take place from the 1st to 3rd of November at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali, Indonesia. Visitors are encouraged to attend to learn more about the company’s complete range of technology driven solutions. Mr Selvarajah’s appointment will take effect on the 1st of November, 2023.
